HEC awarded NOC to GSCWU

The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has issued provisional NOC to Government Sadiq College Women University Bahawalpur recognizing the university by adding it in the list of HEC recognized higher education institutions. Prof. Dr. Qaiser Mushtaq has termed it a milestone in the history of the University. In a statement he said that this development is outcome of the previous three months untiring efforts which enabled the university to get acknowledgement from the HEC. He further said that since his joining as Vice Chancellor on 27th January, 2015, he is taking steps on priority basis to establish administrative and academic infrastructure and creation of statutory bodies. Board of studies, board of faculties and academic council have been constituted and university statutes have also been compiled to be submitted in next syndicate meeting for approval.  A semester calendar based on newly devised semester rules & regulations has been enforced. Recently, finance and planning committee of university has approved Rs. 604 million budget for the forthcoming fiscal year. The Vice Chancellor further said that provincial and local governments are fully endorsing these measures and HEC’s NOC is a clear example of this factor. The university will focus its attention on HEC conditions including the hiring of PhD faculty and strengthening of existing infrastructure to obtain permanent recognized status. Meanwhile, the educational and social circles of Bahawalpur have praised Prof. Dr. Qaiser Mushtaq, Vice Chancellor for obtaining the NOC for Women University from HEC in a very short period of time. They also think it a positive step for the women’s educational development in Bahawalpur. It is pertinent to note that the Government Sadiq Degree College for Women established since 1944 was accorded the university status by the Government of Punjab on March 18, 2012.
