Measures Regarding prevention and control of Neaglaria Fowleri -brain eating amoeba

A seminar was held at Govt. Sadiq College Women University, Bahawalpur on March 2nd, 2016 under the supervision of Department of Botany. The Seminar was held in context to spread awareness about the fatal brain disease PAM caused by amoeba NeagleriaFowleri – usually found in warm water of rivers, lakes and ponds etc. PAM stands for primary amoebic meningeocephalitis. The bacteria enter in the human body through nose and travels to the brain where it damages the brain cells and tissues leading to death of an individual. Informative presentations were prepared by the students of the Botany Department. Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Afza was the chief guest of the seminar. She also emphasized to adopt preventive measures while exercising water related activities. She also appreciated the Chairperson and faculty members of Botany Department to organize such an informative seminar.
